TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre (TÜBİTAK MAM) Food Institute is owned by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. MAM is the largest research unit of TUBİTAK and includes 7 different institutes, being the Food Institute (FI) one of the most renowned institutes of them. Food Institute has in-depth expertise and experience in conducting R&D projects. Along with strategic projects that produce scientific and technological knowledge and expertise, industrial applied R&D project studies are carried out. Quality control analyses, consultancy services and training programmes are also provided. Since 1979, toxigenic moulds and mycotoxins have been subjected to various studies and projects of FI both national and international levels.
The Institute disposes of state-of-the-art equipment for chemical and biochemical analysis of food and feed contaminants. In this context the institute is fully equipped with mass spectrometric equipments including GC-MS, GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS systems.

Related projects dealing with antimicrobial properties of lactic acid bacteria against pathogens, starter culture development to extend shelf life of foods, application of UV-C light and ozone on traditional Turkish beverages, microbiological performance of white goods endowed with different equipment, have been carried out.
